1. It is the responsibility of each player to ensure their scores are entered into the master copy of the squash leagues, found on the notice board outside squash court one, after playing their match.
2. A period of six/ seven weeks will be given to finish all league matches. Matches can be played at any time up to and including the final day of the league.
3. All the matches are to be played under England Squash rules and are to be the best of five games.
4. Players should agree the standard of the ball used for matches: normally players should use black, yellow dot balls. Premier and division 1 players should use black XX Balls.
5. Any disputes will be settled by the organising member of staff whose decision will be final.
6 Points System
6.1 Matches are the best of five games, the points system is:
3 – 0 win: 6 points to the winner, 1 point to the loser
3 – 1 win: 5 points to the winner, 2 points to the loser
3 – 2 win: 4 points to the winner, 3 points to the loser
6.2 If, due to shortage of time, matches are started but not finished the points will be as follows:
1 – 1 result: both players are awarded 2 points
2 – 0 result: 3 points to the winner, 1 point to the loser
2 – 1 result: 3 points to the winner, 2 points to the loser
2 – 2 result: both players are awarded 3 points
6.3 If a match is forfeited, the points will be awarded as follows:
· Player cannot play match, 5 points to the player offering the match dates, 0 to the player unable to play
· Player fails to turn up for the match on the date and time arranged. 5 points to the player who turns up, 0 points to the player who fails to turn up.
· Player turns up for match but forfeits during the course of the game. 5 points for the player willing to continue, 1 point for the person who forfeits.
7 Contacting Players
7.1 Each player in the league is responsible for contacting the other players in their league
7.2 If the player is unable to play when contacted, a further two dates must be offered. If, on the third date, the player is still unable to play, the match will be forfeited.
7.3 The two further dates must be on separate days and at different times.
8. Players who fail to play a minimum of two matches at the end of the allocated period run the risk of being removed from the league and will have to reapply.
Injury and Special Circumstances
9. If any player cannot complete their matches due to injury they must inform the organising member of staff. Failure to do so will result in the player being removed from the squash league.
Although injured players who have informed the organising member of staff will be retained in the league, their current position will not be guaranteed. The position for the following month will be determined by the number of points accumulated before the injury occurred.
10. If there are any other reason why a player has not played a single game, within the allocated period they should inform the squash organiser. This will be considered and the decision made will be final.
Promotion/ Demotion
11.1 The promotion / demotion system is:
Premier league:
The player who is placed 1st will remain in the same division
The player who is placed 2nd will remain in the same division
The player who is placed 3rd will remain in the same division
The player who is placed 4th will remain in the same division
The player who is placed 5th will be demoted 1 division
The player who is placed 6th will be demoted 1 division
The player who is placed 7th will be demoted 2 divisions
Division 2 – 6:
The player who is placed 1st will be promoted 2 divisions
The player who is placed 2nd will be promoted 1 division
The player who is placed 3rd will remain in the same division
The player who is placed 4th will remain in the same division
The player who is placed 5th will remain in the same division
The player who is placed 6th will be demoted 1 division
The player who is placed 7th will be demoted 2 divisions
The promotion / demotion system for Division 1 & 7 is as for divisions 2 – 6, but the player placed 1st in division 1 is only promoted 1 division. For division 7 the player placed 7th will be demoted 1 division.
11.2 If two players have played the same number of games and have totalled the same number of points a decision will be made on the outcome of the game played between the two players (the player who lost the encounter will finish one place lower on the league).
11.3 If two players have totalled the same number of points but have not played the same number of games, the player who has played the least number of games will finish one place lower in the league.
11.4 If more than two players have played the same number of games and totalled the same number of points then a decision of their final position will be made based on previous league positions, i.e. the player in the lowest position in the previous league will finish lowest in the new league.
